New YouTube Header Image

Vasko Obscura: Inspired by the header photo I made for the new Patreon page I decided it was time to update the Studio V Photography header I had on my YouTube channel. It was getting a bit tied. After three years of just my logo on a grey background it was time for change. I really like the way this new header tells a better story about what I do and how long I’ve been doing it. Obviously I’ve been working as a glamour photographer for a long time and I feel this image does a better job at conveying that thought to the viewer. On the down side the image is a bit busy. Maybe that is a bad thing but for now i’m sticking with it. If you want to check out the YouTube channel hit the link below.

Studio V Photography on Patreon

Vasko Obscura: Here we go guys and gals Studio V Photography is now on Patreon. Being a creative isn’t always easy. Most of us creatives don’t have a 9-to-5 so we have to hustle all the time to create a steady income. Patreon is great because it connects us to another revenue stream provided by those of you who appreciate us the most. Our fans.

I’m totally new to Patreon but I can see the potential not only for myself but also as a platform through which I can give back to those of you who appreciate what I do the most. I’m working on some reward ideas for different pledge levels. From free printed T-Shirts and mugs to live streams of hot photos shoots to online tutorials to maybe even letting someone come see a sexy photo shoot happening in person. I’ve got a bunch of idea. I figure my fans fall into two big groups. Those who love photos of beautiful woman and those who want to learn how to shoot photos of beautiful woman. So i’ll try to be mindful of those two perspectives.

Thanks for reading and if you want to help me out though Patreon click on the link or image below.

CF Cards for sale

I’m upgrading to a new camera and it doesn’t support CF cards so I’ve got to offload these guys. The Transcend cards are three years old. Never had any issues with them. I’ve used them to shoot models and weddings, they have always been reliable. The Sandisk card is pretty new. I bought it because I needed a faster card to shoot some action shots and video. I’m selling the three as a bundle for $100.

Meetup / Burlington Beach Shoot 2018

Alright guys here we go. The date has been set and we're going to meet up and have some photo-shooting-fun. Here is the plan, get a beach, add some photographer and then add some models and boom! Photographer model meetup/photo shoot. This is going to be a bit of a meet and great as well as a photo shoot. The idea is to do some networking as well as shooting.

Photographers: I've talked to VX2 Magazine and they are cool with accepting submissions from any photographers attending the meet up. Photographers if you want to submit shots to the magazine print out a few model releases and bring them with you to the shoot. You can get the releases here. You can't submit without signed releases.

Location: Burlington Beach. MAP. Yes there are change rooms, a snack shack and parking lots. It's a long beach so best if you bring some water with you. I'll probably be at the south end of the beach.
Time & Date: June 23rd, 12 noon till 8pm.
Wardrobe: Something sexy you'd wear on the beach. Bikinis are ok but jean shorts rolling around in the sand is hotter. right? Wardrobe is up to you.
Photo Edits: I think it goes without saying but I'm saying it anyways. All photographers who shoot must give the models edits of some sort. The details are up to you but photo shoots have to be a win win for everyone involved.

Its not mandatory but if you want to touch base say hi and let me know you're coming or if you have any questions message me here.

So I might have started vlogging

Soooooo, I kinda, maybe, sorta', possibly could have, at some point, started vlogginggggg. If you look real close, it looks like some vlogs have popped up on my Youtube channel.

I've been toying around with different ideas for the Studio V Photography YouTube channel and perhaps i'm still experimenting with ideas. I wrote down all the things I want to achieve with my YouTube channel and out of all the ideas i've experimented with vlogging appears to be the one. The idea of vlogging wasn't even on my radar till recently. Now I'm really into the idea. It's going to be a fun experience sharing my photography world with all of you. I'm really looking forward to the learning curve. I know almost nothing about video editing so my videos are probably gonna be super basic for the time being. But don't worry, I've got a good eye and it's only a matter of time before my technical skills catch up to my creative vision.

In my first vlog I open up about why my photography business has started slowing down. 2013 to 2015 had been a really trying period in the life and times of me. A lot of different factors all came together to create a perfect storm that took the wind out of my sails. Rather than being down about things I've decided that this is the perfect opportunity to start vlogging. I'm going to bring all of you with me on my journey to rebuild my brands to where they were in 2012 and then take them up to the next level. I have the knowledge, I know how to run a prosperous business, I have the motivation, I have everything I need to be successful again. So I invite you to subscribe to my YouTube channel and come with me as I rebuild my business and have a ton of exciting adventures along the way. As of today I have 184 subscribers. I want to grow that number to 1000 by the end of the year.

Here is a link to my Youtube Channel. Go check it out and hit the subscribe button. I'd really appreciate it.

Two Old Ideas Made New Again

It's funny how life takes you off course sometimes. I'm a strong believer in learning lessons in life and I've learned a lot of lessons over the past few years. It's been hectic on all levels. On one side of the coin yes my business has suffered but on the flip side all the things I've gone through have made me a stronger wiser person. I look back at who I was in 2013 and who I am now and I can clearly see how much I've grown and for that i'm grateful. Now I'm back on track and refocused on developing my personal and professional life in a positive direction. With that being said it's time to take two business development ideas I let fall by the wayside in 2013 and bring them back to the forefront again.

1.) One was a coffee table photo book. I was in the process of designing and branding a series of coffee table photo books. The idea was to create pictorial story books. 10 to 20 page photo stories. With 5 to 8 stories per book. It's always cool to see one great photo but it really takes a lot of thought to put together a cohesive story though a series of photos. That's what I was going to challenge myself to do with some of the hottest woman in Toronto.

2.) The other idea I want to bring back to the table is a T-Shirt line. Just simple T's with either a logo or photo printed on them. Something to sell through an online store to accompany the photo books. Below I have 2 prototype shirts I printed back in 2013 to see how they would look and feel. Then life happened and I got distracted and never took the project farther. But you know, maybe it's for the best. Now that I look at these shirt designs I realize that they are far to simple and kinda awful. Got fresh eyes and new ideas on it now. It's going to be awesome.

I have most of the ground work already layed out for these projects so now it's just a matter of revisiting the ideas and bringing them inline with my 2016 business plan. On a personal level these are ideas I was so excited about in 2013 and it's going to feel so incredible to finally bring them to fruition in 2016. So stay tuned. Online store coming this summer. It's gonna be awesome.

So I may have started to streamline my Instagram feed. In fact I may have started to visually streamline all my photography work. I think as an artist you get caught up experimenting and shooting everything because you're so eager to learn as much as you can. Then one day everything just clicks and all of a sudden you realize you've developed something you can call your own style. I've really been loving the way my images have been looking recently. Now the plan is to keep on developing and working with this visual aesthetic. One day, just like fashion trends change, photography trends will also change and, well, then i'll have to change again too. I remember five years ago bright edgy high contrast photos and ring lights were all the rage now that look has fallen out of vogue. Most of the work I shot back then looks so dated now. Now that i'm sitting back and thinking about it, it's kinda cool to realize that I've been working as a photographer long enough to see a major visual trend shift in the photography industry.

Sarah Ve Teaser

Here is a tease shot form a set I shot with the beautiful Sarah Ve. Last summer I met her on set and it wasn't long till we clicked on a creative level. We both seem to have that desire to experiment outside the box. Experimenting with lighting and different styles of shooting has always been one of my favourite things to do. It's so refreshing to find someone who likes the same things. I'm working on the edits from this shoot now. Can't wait to get them done and see what they lead to.

Happy New Year

Alright 2016 is here! Happy New Year everybody. Best wishes and success to all in 2016. After taking time off for the holidays it's officially back to work day here at Studio V. The band is back together and we're ready to get awesome to the sauce!

Happy 2016 everyone.

Magazine Shoot BTS

Today we're off to the Marina again to shoot on the Poco Loco. We have Karlie a beautiful Latina bombshell, Felicity winner of Miss Teen Ontario and Paul the editor in Chief of Nine5Four Canada Magazine. The day started out nice and foggy and I was looking forward to doing something creative in the thick fog but I knew by the time makeup and wardrobe wraps up the fog will be gone. But whatever the weather i'll make it work.

Here is a little teaser shot of Karlie sitting on the stern of the Poco Loco. She had some killer curves. You guys will love the magazine feature when it comes out. Got some amazing shots of Felicity as well. What an awesome day out in the sun shooting. Can't wait to get these pictures published. You can find more behind the scenes pictures up on my instagram feed. Look up @Studiov14

Behind The Scenes With Nine5Four Canada Magazine

A little behind the scenes action. On set with Studio V Photography as we shoot Marianne D'Vaz, Megan Powell and Anna for an editorial feature for Nine5Four Canada Magazine. These three beauties were a fun buzz all day.

This is the shoot that almost didn't happen. The magazine editor lined up a beautiful vintage yacht for the shoot. I saw pictures of it before hand and it looked amazing. However when we got to the marina it was gone. Apparently the owner of the yacht decided to takeoff for the day and leave us stranded. Lucky for us the models were attracting all kinds of attention at the marina and it wasn't long before we found another yacht to shoot on. So in the end everything worked out perfectly and we made a great contact at the marina. Always keep a positive mindset and good things happen. That's the trick.  Swimsuits by Venao Swimwear. Makeup by Sarah Ve. I'll post more pictures from this shoot when they get published.
